18th Street Casa de Cultura is intending to occupy a new property located at 2032 W. 18th St. Chicago, IL, across the street from its cultural center. The intended function of this facility will be to build out “Casa Ilumina”, a health and wellness center to house our Ilumina activities and services. Ilumina is a program of 18th Street Casa de Cultura focused on health centered offerings designed for collective holistic healing through a decolonial lens.
In collaboration with multiple local partners, Casa Ilumina will provide an array of bilingual (Span/Eng) services geared towards all generations including: group therapy circles; mindfulness practices such as meditation and yoga; and culturally rooted herbalism workshops and training to name a few. Aside from direct programs, Casa Ilumina intends to offer resources and tools such as traditional medicine and literature, as well as serve as a bridge for connecting community members to individual healing services such as therapy, reiki, etc.
Support the vision
Our goal is to raise $40,000 to be able to secure 1 year of rent and utilities of Casa Ilumina at 2032 W. 18th St., with the intention of opening October 2025.
Why give?
Take a minute to write an introduction that is short, sweet, and to the point. If you sell something, use this space to describe it in detail and tell us why we should make a purchase. Tap into your creativity. You’ve got this.
